Unlike what most critics say, you need to consider the positive reviews too before turning The Ugly Truth into a must-see or not. The movie is funny and also has a few American Pie style laughs in it. (Now you know exactly what it is about.)
The movie is a typical rom-com, but it turns out to be less mediocre just because of the performance of the 2 stars Katherine Heigl and Gerard Butler involved in the movie. The Ugly Truth seems to be perfect for both men and women as you will find a certain balance between gender opinions in this movie. The women are basically interested in the movie to understand how much fun it would be if they still haven’t explored the wild side while dating (much like Heigl’s character in the movie). The men would love to take their girlfriends or wives to this movie to expose them to the ideas that pop up in an average male mind.
You need to be broad-minded while watching a movie that contains universal grains of truth. Try not to take things personally and just enjoy the show.
